Counselling and Psychotherapy for parents and carers of families and children that have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND, SEN).

Being a parent / carer for many can be exceptionally challenging and isolating. It is hard to reach out for support through the deep feeling of disconnection to those around us and the limited understanding of family dynamics and the stress that is often behind closed doors.

Often people seek counselling and psychotherapy to resolve difficulties, we know your situation is life long. The feeling of being terrified of the future, or guilt in trying to manage siblings needs. Feeling overwhelmed with frustration and anger in fighting for services that provide little or no support, feeling stretched trying to manage siblings needs, managing physical aggression, desperately hanging on to employment or leaving a career. All these aspects that you may experience in everyday family life are extremely stressful and take a huge toll both physically and mentally on parents and families lives.

While we appreciate everyone’s situation is unique, being able to talk to someone who has a deep empathic understanding can provide a much needed space to share with compassion your deepest thoughts and feelings, those you may never want to share with others through fear of judgment and misunderstanding that we hold and hide away. These deep emotions if left unprocessed may later lead to experiencing mental health difficulties, anxiety, depression, sleeping difficulties, reduced resilience and the ability to cope with the demands of daily life.
