Often people are referred for one particular type of therapy or group work, which although can be helpful, is not always the best modality in counselling and psychotherapy for neurodivergent people. An integrative approach is more beneficial drawing from a variety of psychological theories to find what works best for you.

Although the heading of this page focuses on Autism and ADHD, there are many conditions that come under the umbrella term of neurodivergence. Such as Tourette’s and Tics, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Language Processing difficulties, Auditory Processing, Sensory Processing and many more.

When you make an enquiry by either of the above contact methods I will respond asking you for a suitable day and time to discuss your individual needs. The purpose of this is to ascertain if counselling is suitable for you, an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have and for me to check that I have the relevant skills and training to support you. If you require more specialist services I will support you to find these.
First appointment - At your first appointment I complete a full assessment of your needs. This involves me asking you personal questions around your circumstances and history, information about your childhood and relationships, the way you experience the world. Your current challenges, wishes and goals in relation to counselling. We may also complete some questionnaires to check if any additional support is needed.
Following appointments - The information gathered from your initial appointment forms how we work together. Counselling vey much requires a collaborative, open and trusting relationship between us to be effective.
